Choose Your Own Adventure: Should You Use Virtual Reality (VR) in Your Course?

Not sure if VR is the right fit or if you are ready to use it in your course?

Let this decision tree help! You will answer questions about:

Working Through the Decision Tree

Each question builds on the next and so you shouldn't skip any. This isn't a quiz where there are "right" answers. If you have ever read a choose-your-own-adventure style book you know you can simply thumb through it and figure out the way to ensure the main character wins. Resist the temptation. If your course isn't ready for VR, you and your students won't win, I assure you

Consider each question as a leading to a possible "danger zone" for your plan to use VR. That doesn't mean you can't ever use it. You may simply not be ready yet.

Each question you answer will take you to a new page with either another question (or set of questions) or it will let you know you have hit a "danger zone" and, like many intrepid heroes, if you aren't careful your journey may end. Just with far less maiming and death.

If you do reach a "danger zone" there will be an explanation as to why your course may not be a good fit for VR and, most importantly, resources or steps you can take to help you get to that point.
