Chapter 03: VR Programs
You plan to use the VR program regularly (or weighed the cost vs benefits)
Awesome! If you reached here without falling prey to the many dangers, then VR might be a good choice for your course and/or academic program.
There are a couple more considerations before you complete this adventure. Read on!
Have you located a high quality, immersive VR program that you can build your course around?
No? If not:
Look around some more or wait. The quality of a VR program makes or breaks successful implementation. Immersion is an important basic requirement for VR.
Is the software robust enough to justify the expense of it and a VR headset (i.e., it aligns to multiple learning objectives)?
No? If not:
Keep looking for another option. You will want VR to directly relate to multiple student learning outcomes to ensure the cost and student learning curve is worth it.
Headsets cost hundreds of dollars and VR software cost varies widely and so this should be carefully weighed before building a course around one. Be sure the VR program you choose aligns to course/program competencies.
